Chairman Michael Ambrose is an experienced company director, business consultant and Chartered Accountant who brings a broad range of governance, financial, general management, strategic and Initial Public Offering (IPO) skills to the Deep Creek Fruits board.
Michael is widely respected throughout New Zealand as a board chairman and director who provides advisory, strategic and governance support to multiple companies involved in a variety of manufacturing and service sectors.
A director of leading accountancy and business advisory firm Rodgers and Co Limited since 1998, he is also creator and founding director of Arvida Group Limited, a public company comprising retirement and aged care facilities, chairman and independent director of Manchester Unity Friendly Society and director of seafood exporter, Fiordland Lobster Company Limited and its related companies alongside advisor Bryan Henderson. He is also chairs the boards of meat exporter, Garra International Limited, Chateau Hotel Marlborough Limited and seniors’ relocation service, Senior Move Managers Limited.
As Deep Creek Fruits NZ chair, Michael ensures the board effectively sets and implements its strategic direction and fulfils shareholders’ interest and liaises with chief executive officer Sharon Kirk on operational function. He envisages Deep Creek Fruits has a unique opportunity to create a special business in Central Otago to aid employment and New Zealand’s export-led growth.
Michael has a Bachelor of Commerce from Canterbury University, is an Associate Chartered Accountant and holds a certificate in Public Practice. He is also a member of the Institute of Directors and the New Zealand Institute of Management. Based in Christchurch, he was appointed in September 2020.
